So many shows coming up! Here’s a quick preview!

So you don’t give a crap about the season premiere of Modern Family.  And you don’t watch sports.  And you’re allergic to apples, thus making trips to the orchard unnecessary.  But you LOVE to go to concerts.  You’re our type of person.  Let me tell you about what we’ve got coming up over the next week!

TOMORROW!  9/27 - He Is We @ Mac’s Bar, Lansing (w/ Grant Woell and Rival Summers)
For fans of: Owl City, The Rocket Summer, Lydia
Why you should care: One of pop music’s hottest up-and-coming acts, He Is We steps outside the mess of terrible bands and has created a sound that I can’t get out of my head.  Plus, hard-working local songwriter Grant Woell is releasing his brand new album at this show.  And Leo (Rival Summers) is the nicest human being on earth.

9/29 - MUTEMATH @ The Loft, Lansing
For fans of: Copeland, As Tall As Lions, Fun
Why you should care: This is one of the biggest shows we’ve ever done.  Everyone I talk to is like “man, they’re an amazing live band”.  They’re playing a ridiculously long set, including their entire new record.  They’re bringing silly amounts of production for a tiny club.  This: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry6GAwDCI2I

9/29 thru 10/1 - Boiling Pot Festival @ downtown Kalamazoo
For fans of: life, music, beer
Why you should care: An amazing lineup of artists on an outdoor stage including Murder By Death, Legendary Shack Shakers, Mustard Plug, Small Brown Bike, Breathe Owl Breathe, Frontier Ruckus, Chris Bathgate, and about a million more.  About a hundred micro-brews on tap.  A beautiful concert setting in downtown Kalamazoo.  Stupidly cheap ticket prices.  Details at http://www.boilingpotfest.com/

9/30 - Giraffe Attack (CD release party) @ Howell Opera House (w/ Tiger Tiger, The Right Stuff, Wolves and Machines, Apprehension, Red Pill and Philthy)
For fans of: Rage Against the Machine, Flobots, your hometown
Why you should care: Giraffe Attack is one of the most innovative and talented bands in Michigan, not just Livingston County, and they’ve worked hard on their new record.  The rest of the lineup is incredible.  Tiger! Tiger! has promised he’s got some things to say on Friday that might be hard to hear.  The Right Stuff generally is the rowdiest band in Livingston County.  Wes will probably injure himself.  Apprehension plays their first show.  And Howell’s own Red Pill returns home after quite a few years away to show us his inspired hip-hop, with good friend Philthy.

10/1 - “Over The Edge Saturdays” ft. All Get Out @ The Loft (w/ Now Now, Herd, Commodore Cosmos)
For fans of: Manchester Orchestra, Cage The Elephant, Motion City Soundtrack
Why you should care:  Tickets are cheap.  Drinks are cheap.  All Get Out is putting out one of the best records of the year, and you like good records.  Now Now is an incredible band on No Sleep Records, enjoying a monster 2011.  Herd and Commodore Cosmos are great local acts.  A DJ will be spinning 90s and alternative to follow the show.  You want to hang out w/ Span and the rest of the Edge crew.

10/3 - Cerebral Ballzy @ Mac’s Bar (w/ The Right Stuff, Fisherking, Lenin/McCarthy)
For fans of: Trash Talk, OFF!, jean jackets with patches
Why you should care: You’re going to be one of a select few to be able to claim that you were there when Cerebral Ballzy first played Michigan.  There’s a legend in the making here, one that simply doesn’t give a fuck about anything.  You want to get rowdy, and jump off of things.

So, you might want to come to a show.  Or five.  We won’t get sick of seeing you.  And you won’t get sick of seeing us.  We’re pals.  Spread the word, support art and community and music and people pursuing their passions!
