I'm currently in school studying live recording and engineering. Do you guys have an audio engineer at the shows? If so, is it at all possible to get an internship with them?
Most of our venues hire their own sound and lighting staff. My suggestion is to literally go to a show at the venue of your choice that you know is going to be not very busy, pay to get in, and then simply chat with the sound person at that venue. Ask questions. Show interest (but don’t be in the way).
If it’s a crazy show (i.e. packed, sold out, etc), don’t bother them.
Otherwise, send your resume to local venues, and following up with their house manager.
